Coaching Staff

Glenn Brown

Team Coordinator - Head Swim Coach

After guiding the Tiger Sharks all season, Coach Brown begins the long course season as PPD's Head Swim Coach. In his first year he assisted with the senior program and led the TAG 2 group to many successes. Brown grew up here in Chicagoland having swam for Homewood Flossmoor HS, and the Joliet Jets YMCA Swim Team, Glenn swam for Drury University and earned All-American honors in both breaststroke events his sophomore year. Glenn’s last coaching position was with the Naperville YMCA Swim team, as Head Age Group coach. While with NAPY, he coached numerous athletes to sectional, state and even national championships. Swimming is in Glenn’s blood as his father was a coach when Glenn was younger and his brother is Head Coach of the YMCA National champion Sarasota Shark YMCA swim team in Florida .

Glenn led our program to a team 4^th place finish at the 2009 winters Junior Olympic Championships, having swimmers win many medals and make many speedo sectional time standards. PPD is proud to have Coach Brown as our Head Swim Coach.

Tony Gallagher

Head Head Age Group Coach

Coach Tony Gallagher enters his first season as Head Age Group Coach for the Tiger Sharks this spring. This will be Gallagher's fourth season with PPD, after making stops as an assistant coach at Western Illinois University , The University of Georgia Swim Camps, and in his home town with the Munster Swim Club. Coach Tony is looking forward to the opportunity of the continued development and success to the Top Age Groups. He possesses an in depth plan in stroke mechanics, seasonal progressions, and dry land training throughout the program's levels. Before PPD, Coach Tony was an assistant to the late Andy Rose at BR Ryall, and a national team swimmer at Ryall, PPD, and Munster Swim Club. Additionally, Coach Tony was team captain at WIU during his Junior and Senior seasons. Tony has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a K-12 Teaching Certificate from Western Illinois University.

Mike Huffman

Lead Senior Coach

A product of Palatine, Illinois, Coach Mike enters his third season as a PPD Coach and ninth season as a part of the PPD family. Mike will be taking the reins as our Lead Senior Coach this long-course season and is excited about the challenge. Huffman did his high school swimming with Palatine High School, earning All-State Honors. As a collegiate athlete, Coach Mike attended The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he was a 2-Time Team MVP and Captain his Senior year. Before graduating, Huffman had the opportunity to be a Student-Assistant with Whitewater, where he gained invaluable experience. PPD is glad to have Mike's swimming experience and knowledge leading the charge for our Senior groups.

Dustin Thompson

Head Developmental Coach

Originally from Munster, Indiana, Dustin Thompson joins the PPD staff as our new Head Developmental Coach. Coach Dustin began his swimming career at the age of 8 with the Munster Swim Club. He has accumulated numerous age group and high school swimming state championships in the freestyle, butterfly, and IM events. After high school, Dustin attended Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. At PSU, he competed in the butterfly and IM events, in addition to being team captain his Senior year and National Qualifier. Coach Dustin looks forward to leading PPD's youngest athletes, focusing on stroke technique and having fun interactions in and out of the pool.
